How I Healed My Relationship With Money

I’m proud to unveil that our flagship course, Building a Second Brain Foundation, is now available in Spanish 🎉

Our mission is to help you leverage technology to realize the full potential of your knowledge…

So you can eliminate information overwhelm and lead a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life.

By translating our course into more languages, we hope to make that possible for more people.

To celebrate the launch of the Spanish course, you can now join at $100 OFF (available only until July 4th at 9 am ET).

Btw, the BASB Foundation course is also available in Portuguese.

A Perfect System You Don’t Use Isn’t Perfect

Today, I have a message for anyone feeling the urge to get their Second Brain juuuust right...

Any system that must be perfect to be reliable is deeply flawed, fragile, and will fall apart as soon as you turn your attention elsewhere.

Remember that you're not building an encyclopedia of immaculately organized knowledge but a working system. Both in the sense that it must work and that it's a regular part of your everyday lives.

To make this concrete:

  • There’s no need to capture every idea. The best ones will always come back around eventually.
  • There’s no need to clear your notes inbox frequently. Unlike your to-do list, there’s no negative consequence if you miss a given note.
  • There’s no need to review or summarize notes on a strict timeline. We’re not trying to memorize their contents or keep them top of mind.
  • When organizing notes or files within PARA, it’s a very forgiving decision of where to put something, since search is so effective as a backup option.

Aim for creating a system that's imperfect, but continues to be useful in the real conditions of your life.

Rewriting My Financial Story: How I Healed My Relationship with Money

We all have a relationship with money, whether we acknowledge it or not. For many of us, that relationship is fraught with tension, shame, and unexamined beliefs passed down through generations.

What if, instead of avoiding or resenting money, we could heal our relationship with it?

In this blog post, I share how a weekend intensive gave me a deep understanding of where my mindset toward money came from and how it has shaped my life and my decisions. It also unearthed how I can change it to serve me better.

How to Introduce BASB to Your Coworkers

A few weeks ago, BASB reader Benedetto, an engineer, researcher, and data scientist, wrote to me that he hosted a workshop on the BASB methodology at his company to introduce it to his colleagues.

He graciously shared a public version of his presentation so I can include it in the newsletter.

It's a great example of how you can take initiative and introduce the concept at work. He included just enough theory to lead his coworkers through hands-on exercises and group discussions.

Developing a shared understanding of knowledge management in your organization is so crucial.

Revamping Our Sponsorship Strategy with Justin Moore

As a brand, we’re still fairly new to sponsorships. Over the past 1.5 years, we’ve explored dedicated YouTube videos with brands like Notion and Milanote and occasionally included ads in this newsletter.

However, we know there’s significant potential to grow our sponsorship revenue and benefit YOU better by refining our strategy and partnering with the right brands.

That’s why we were thrilled to have the chance to be coached by sponsorship expert Justin Moore. You can now check out our conversation on his YouTube channel.
