Can You Have Notes in Different Notetaking Apps?

You've heard me talk extensively about how to pick the right notetaking app for your needs on YouTube and on our blog.

So you might get the impression that you need to keep all your notes in one notetaking app only.

But I'm here to tell you that you absolutely can use different notes apps for different purposes. (It's what I do).

My default notes app is Evernote and it works for the majority of use cases. But sometimes, I need to branch out because another app is better equipped to handle the type of information I’m working with for a given project.

For example, I keep certain information in Notion to take advantage of their database functionality which Evernote does not provide. In that case, I only migrate the small amount of notes to Notion that I need, not all of my notes.

With that being said, I still recommend that you have one default place when you need to capture a note. Capturing should be a quick process without having to think about where you write something down.

What secondary notetaking apps do you use and for what purpose? Hit reply and let me know!

Why You Feel Overwhelmed: The Zeigarnik Effect

Psychologist and executive coach Corey Wilks mentioned building a Second Brain as an antidote to the Zeigarnik Effect in his recent article on Psychology Today.

The Zeigarnik Effect is a memory phenomenon: We tend to remember unfinished tasks better than finished ones. The problem with this is that the more unfinished tasks we have to keep track of, the more mental bandwidth we use, and the more overwhelmed we feel.

The solution: give yourself permission to forget!

Wilks writes, "The more tasks and information you can offload, the fewer your brain will have to constantly monitor. You don’t build a Second Brain to remember. You build it so you can forget."

How to Reclaim 10+ Hours Per Week With ChatGPT

ChatGPT has been available for over 500 days already! Crazy, right?

What has been your experience so far? Is the biggest advancement since the Internet making a difference in your work and life?

ChatGPT and other AI tools have helped me a ton...after much trial and error and mixed results. These tools are so powerful but we have to learn to wield them right.

Someone I trust, fellow book author and rocket scientist (!) Ozan Varol, is opening up his AI Advantage course again to help you master ChatGPT and get the most out of it.

Alumni call it “the best online course I’ve ever taken” and “the best investment I’ve made in my business—it has shaved off nearly 15 hours a week!”

If you want to make ChatGPT your dependable co-creator who never tires, I invite you to check it out. Enrollment closes at midnight ET on Friday, May 3rd.

For much of my life, I’ve run full speed after a vision of what it means to be maximally productive. I’ve tried countless apps, methods, frameworks, habits, and psychological tricks to try and squeeze more output out of myself. I’ve had a lot of success following that path, but it has also led me to a realization: that there is something deeper than productivity. Lying just below our desire for more, better, faster, there are more fundamental things we are seeking: love, connection, intimacy,...
