The Magic of the Second Brain Summit

It’s been a whirlwind two days at our first-ever in-person Second Brain Summit, and we’re still buzzing with excitement.

We came together with 200 people who share the same passion for personal knowledge management, creativity, and technology—people just like you!

Whether you were with us in LA or cheering us on from afar, I want to take a moment to share the incredible energy and community spirit that made this event so special.

(We will return to our regular newsletter format next week.)

Standout Moments

The Summit was full of meaningful moments – from having my wife and parents join the event to interviewing Nathan Barry about lessons learned from the world’s top creators on his Billion Dollar Creator podcast.

We heard from an incredible lineup of speakers, including Ryder Carroll, Nick Milo, Anne-Laure Le Cunff, and Steven Johnson, and watched as our own attendees stepped up to lead meetups on topics they’re passionate about.

Jo Franco kept the energy high as our MC, and our brain imaging sessions gave attendees the chance to gain fascinating insights into how their brains work.

It was a celebration of community, learning, and connection unlike any other.

A Community Coming Alive

It was incredible to see the community come alive in person after years of connecting online.

The energy was different—attendees shared that meeting new people and forming real, face-to-face relationships was the highlight of their experience.

From casual chats during sessions to deep conversations over happy hour, and even a shared yoga session to recharge, I'm confident that the connections made at the Summit will last far beyond these two days.

The Power of Applied Knowledge

In my closing remarks at the Second Brain Summit, I shared a story that completely reframed how I think about the power of knowledge.

The biggest takeaway? Knowledge only matters when it’s applied and shared with others.

Looking out at our diverse community—from coaches and writers to lawyers and creators—I emphasized that what we’re doing isn’t just about personal knowledge management.

It’s about translating what we learn into impact and making a difference in the lives of those around us.

What's the Word?

While we're only starting to process all the amazing feedback we received, here’s a sneak peek...

A Massive Thank You!

We couldn’t have made this happen without the tireless support of our incredible team, our volunteers, and our sponsors – Readwise, Kit, Circle, and Delphi.

A huge shoutout to everyone who supported and cheered us on from near and far.

I’m putting the finishing touches on the agenda for the live kick-off session of The Annual Review 2026 this Thursday, and I couldn’t be more excited to meet everyone in the program. We just crossed 500 people enrolled this morning. And they're already making their way through the first few chapters of my upcoming book Life in Perspective. Quick reminder that enrollment closes in just over 24 hours—at midnight PT tomorrow, Dec. 3. So this is your last chance to join us. Let’s kick off 2026...

In case you missed yesterday’s announcement: Enrollment is now open for The Annual Review 2026! This year, you’ll get exclusive early access to my upcoming book Life in Perspective—a full year before it’s published. You’ll work through the complete annual review methodology I’ve refined over 17 years, and your feedback will help shape the final version that thousands of others will read. The program runs Dec. 4 through Jan. 7 and includes two live sessions with me, the book manuscript,...

For years, I’ve collected questions and prompts that reveal hidden truths about our lives. As the end of 2025 approaches, here are 3 of my favorites that never fail to give me insight: 1. When did you feel most alive? What was happening around you to fuel that aliveness? This helps you identify the conditions that make you feel alive, so you can recreate them in the future. 2. What hardships are you carrying with you into this time of year? This surfaces the disappointments, heartbreaks, and...
