How to Reset Your Life Once a Year

Life in Perspective is currently the #1 bestseller in Creativity Self-Help on Amazon 🎉

Thank you to everyone who made that happen!

Yesterday, we hosted the Annual Review Virtual Summit with 10 speakers.

It was wonderfully received, with so much wisdom packed into 4 hours.

We reached over 5,000 views across all platforms.

If you missed it, want to rewatch it, or want the best insights from every speaker distilled into one document, here’s how:

You’ll receive the replay and The Annual Review Compendium. Claim your bonuses by the end of Sunday, Nov. 8.

Building a Second Brain Was Missing a Step

For years, I’ve taught four steps for managing information: Capture, Organize, Distill, Express.

CODE helps you save what matters and turn it into something new. But I’ve realized it only solves half the equation.

We’ve gotten incredibly good at collecting information. We’re terrible at going back to it, to understand what it means for our lives.

So today I’m officially adding a fifth step: R, for Review.

The most highlighted passage in “Building a Second Brain,” marked by over 5,000 readers, is about sending information through time to your future self. The review is where you finally receive it.

In this video, I walk through the fifth step and why it matters more now than ever.

Envy Is Data: How to Use Jealousy in Your Year-End Review

We’re told not to compare ourselves to others. That advice has never really worked.

Jealousy is one of the most honest emotions we have, because we can’t control it. It points at something you want but haven’t admitted to yourself.

This post from the Next Big Idea Club shares five ideas from my new book, Life in Perspective.

You’ll learn how to put envy to work in your year-end review, and how to read the “three signs of yes” your body gives you before you commit.

Podcast: How to Reset Your Life Once a Year with Mo Bunnell

Athletes get an off-season. Most professionals never take one.

I joined Mo Bunnell on his podcast to talk about the annual life review.

You’ll hear:

  • Why a good review starts in your body, not with your goals
  • Why your memory of last year is mostly wrong, and how to check it (your notes and calendar)
  • Excitement maps and dissatisfaction journaling (two things high achievers skip)
  • How to pick projects by working backward from the future you want
  • The one number Mo checks every week to stay on course

Listen to the episode on the Real Relationships Real Revenue podcast.
